Save the Date: “Future of Remembrance” Forum 2024
To our 10th “Future of Remembrance” Forum are kindly invited relatives of victims of Nazi persecution, descendants of Nazi perpetrators, people interested in the culture of remembrance and memorial staff to exchange ideas and network on future issues of remembrance culture.
This year, we are asking about the significance of remembering Nazi crimes in light of the rise of right-wing extremist parties and movements. The Forum offers discussion rounds on the culture of remembrance in the post-Yugoslav region and on commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the raid in Murat in southern France. Other panels will deal with the memory of resistance to German occupation and colonialism in the Netherlands as well as the perspectives of children from “forbidden relationships” between forced laborers and Germans on their family history.
On the evening of November 14, there will be an event in Hamburg-Bergedorf on the question: What separates and what connects the struggles for recognition and remembrance of concentration camp survivors and descendants of Nazi persecutees with the struggles of victims of right-wing violence after 1945 and their relatives?
